All this waste, we have to ban it, if we want to save our planet!
As part of our efforts to recycle everything in school we have established a recycling area, where batteries, mobile phones, ink cartridges and plastic can be recycled. Every Friday the children are encouraged to bring in plastic for recycling, if they don't already recycle it at home. Each week on Friday one teacher brings their class to a local bring centre to recycle this plastic. The mobile phones and ink cartridges can be exchanged for Tesco computers for schools vouchers which will benefit all the children. Another idea for the mobile phones was to send them to the Jack and Jill Foundation - as the committee couldn't decide what to do, it was agreed to count the phones and if there was a large number that we could split the amount - half for Tesco and half to the Jack and Jill Foundation.

Third & Fourth Class

Fifth & Sixth
As well as having a recycling area within the school, we have also colour coded the bins throughout the school. So in every classroom, office, hall and in the staffroom there is a red bin for rubbish, a tall dark coloured bin for paper recycling and a composting bin. This makes life easier for Breda in the afternoons when she is cleaning and it means that no matter where you are in the school the same rules apply. Along with the different colours of the bins they are also labelled, just in case!
