All this waste, we have to ban it, if we want to save our planet!
On Friday 25th April, we eventually raised our first Green Flag. To celebrate, we ended classes at 11am to start the proceedings. We had invited guests arriving at this time and a lot of last minute details to finalise. Parents had been making sandwiches and teachers running about!

The Flag is Raised
Ms. Cronin started the proceedings by welcoming everyone and then Ms. Enright and Ms. Jordan spoke of their experiences with regards to the Green Schools Project. Ashley and Ella, who won our competition for a poem or song to be performed on the day, were presented with their prizes and then Trevor Sargent, Minister for Food and Horticulture spoke. Minister Sargent was accompanied by his mother Mildred, who is a past pupil of St. Catherine's.
When all the speeches were over the children throughout the school all joined together to recite some fantastic poems that were written for the occassion. The standard of these were just amazing and everyone should be so proud.
After this it was time for the flag to be raised. The committee members all helped Minister Sargent to hoist the flag while the crowd counted down. This was a great moment, it was a pity there was no wind! Ella and Ashley read their winning poem and everyone went back inside for food and drink!
